Turning the Page: From Paper to Digital Excellence

Selling More Efficiently with a New Digital Enablement Tool

BACKGROUND

A medical equipment manufacturer sold a complex range of solutions to hospitals. Sales representatives needed presentations, product details, financial information and competitive insights to explain those offerings during customer meetings. At the time, representatives carried printed materials in three-ring binders. Each person was responsible for keeping those materials up to date.

THE CHALLENGE

Printed binders were difficult to maintain. Decks and product information could become outdated, and separately printed materials led to inconsistent messaging across the sales team. The binders also fell short of the polished experience the company wanted to present when discussing its technology with hospital customers.

A digital replacement needed to do more than display slides. Sellers required access to several types of content, centrally managed updates, and dependable offline use in hospital settings with limited connectivity.

THE OBJECTIVE

To give the sales team a consistent, professional way to present the company’s solutions, answer customer questions and access current resources without manually rebuilding or reprinting binders.

STRATEGIC APPROACH

A business case secured leadership support and a budget for approximately 50 tablets. Instead of commissioning a custom app, a custom app-like experience was created using tools already available through Microsoft Office, supported by a system developed with the company’s IT team.

The digital resource brought product-specific presentations, financial assessment tools, competitive comparisons, demonstration videos and training materials into one place. Its structure helped representatives move between resources during customer conversations while presenting a consistent brand and product story.

Content could be managed centrally and distributed to the tablets, replacing the need for each representative to update printed materials. Offline functionality was built into the experience so essential resources remained available during hospital visits.

A more polished customer experience: Tablets replaced bulky printed binders with an interactive presentation tool.

Easier content updates: Materials could be maintained centrally rather than reprinted by each representative.

RESULTS & IMPACT

The digital tool replaced a fragmented, paper-based process with a shared resource for the sales team. Representatives could present current information, demonstrate products and use interactive tools in customer meetings without relying on printed binders or a live connection. Centralized content management also made the experience easier to maintain as products and messaging changed.
